Bella's perfect beach reads
Some writers get offended if their novels are referred to as Beach Reads but I take it as a compliment. If a reader has not only spent their hard earned cash on my book but decided to give it case room and make it part of their holiday relaxation time, then I’m truly honoured. Perhaps this is because I take great care in selecting my books for holiday.
Reading is a big part of my break. I go away to relax and be with my family, however, the latter are usually occupied in the pool and with the entertainment team for most of the day which leaves me to curl up on a sun lounger and disappear in to a book – utter bliss. Although it’s only blissful if you’ve got your holiday reading choice right. There’s nothing worse than a panic purchase at the airport that you struggle to get into, which is why I prepare beforehand.
I make a note of recommended books that keep popping up and those that friends recommend and I save them until I go away. Sometimes this takes a lot of will power but it’s worth it. I like a bit of a selection of genres when I’m away and I try out a new author too but I always take the latest Jill Mansell away with me. Why? Because she never lets me down. For me it’s perfect holiday reading – fun, poignant and twisty with a Happily Ever After. It may a little ambitious but here’s what’s on my holiday reading list for this year.
Bella’s latest novel Coming Home to Ottercombe Bay is published on the 28th June and would make the perfect beach read.
